Follow this guide in order to access your AE tokens.

We are happy to announce the distribution of the AE token has happened. However, the tokens are not yet transferable. Once we are certain that there are no serious issues with the deployment, your AE tokens will become transferable.

Please use the current guide to check your balance and access your AE tokens.

We have added a FAQ with the most common issues that users are experiencing at the end of this guide. Please refer to it before requesting support.

We have identified a scam AE contract address.

The official AE contract address is: 0x5CA9a71B1d01849C0a95490Cc00559717fCF0D1d

The SCAM address is: 0x67610DAa332baafa42061A62FaDC121BC725CE00

General Note when Dealing with Private Keys

Be careful of phishing attacks. Do not follow links from people of who you are not 100% sure are from the æternity team or trusted friends. Always double-check the spelling of the URL and the green lock symbol to the left of the URL. Use bookmarks. If in doubt, reach out to one of the team on our social channels (check their comment history).

If you participated using Ether:

Generally speaking, any ERC20 compliant Ether wallet will work in order to access your AE tokens.

If you created a wallet using MyEtherWallet (MEW) or through wallet.aeternity.com:

You can simply open your wallet using your 12 word mnemonic phrase, private key or .JSON file or by using your hardware wallet.

Once complete and you have accessed your wallet you will see your AE token balance. If you don’t see your balance immediately, you will need to add it as a custom token by pressing “Add Custom Token” (on the lower right of the page).

  1. In address field enter the contract address as follows:

0x5CA9a71B1d01849C0a95490Cc00559717fCF0D1d

2. In the “Token Symbol” field, enter: AE

3. In the “Decimals” field: 18

4. Press “Save”

Once complete, you will see your AE tokens and be able to perform transactions.

In order to send a transaction, you will need to add a “To” address, select AE from the drop-down menu in “Amount” and enter an amount. Next, click “Generate Transaction”. Currently, you will not be able to initiate any transactions. If you try to do so, you will get an error. You can watch the video below for more information.

You are done!

Please note that the video was created using the Kovan test network, but the process is the same on the Ethereum mainnet:

If you participated using BTC:

If you sent BTC, you will need to use a tool to create an ETH wallet (public/private key pair) from your BTC address and private key/seed. You can follow the instructions in the video below. The tool is open-source and can be downloaded here or you can click here for the live version. Once created, just follow the instructions for ETH contributors above. You are also able to use the key-transform tool offline on a live system to achieve highest security.

If you see a different balance from the one that was displayed on wallet.aeternity.com. Do not worry. This is normal and was caused by issues through our web API with CryptoCompare.com who was the provider of historical currency rates during Phase 2. You can learn more about this on our dedicated blog post.

If you sent BTC from a hardware wallet:

If you sent BTC using your hardware wallet device then you have two options. You can either use the devices seed or access it through MyEtherWallet.com with a custom derivation path.

Option 1 — “Seed

In the case of Ledger and Trezor, there were 24 words that you wrote down during the set up. Simply enter the words in the correct order (with spacing between them) in the first tool box and the address you contributed from in the next tool box.

Option 2 — “MEW” with Trezor

Simply go to MEW(Myetherwallet.com), press “Send Ether and Tokens” and then select TREZOR. Plug in your device and click “Connect.”

After pressing “Connect to TREZOR” you will see a pop-up window. Press the “Export” button.

Next, enter your TREZOR PIN.

You will see dialogue that asks you to select the right derivation path. Use a custom derivation path — m/44'/0'/0'/0

Select the address that you contributed from and unlock your wallet.

Common Issues FAQ

We have identified a few mistakes that people do that result in inability to access their tokens. Please have a look below.

  • Users are trying to open the wrong BTC/ETH wallet and when they do — there is no AE inside (expected). Please make sure that you are trying to unlock the right ETH address / convert the right BTC address. The “the right address” is the one you contributed from.
  • In the case of BTC contributions the “right transaction” should have sent BTC to one of these two addresses:

3D1YpQirXKZGn7ydnh6oUPWzo5WC4sd4Nc
335TYuEjiWFmTYjAjN5o2CSUjbqF8WmpMz

  • Users are unable to find their ETH wallet after using their passphrase/seed in MyEtherWallet (according to the guide above). What can work in this case is to send a small amount of ETH to the address that you contributed from (the “right address”). Community members have suggested to send at least 0.4 ETH. Once the ETH is visible at the address, it should come up first at MyEtherWallet.
  • One of the most common problems with the BTC/ETH key-translate tool relate to users using the wrong passphrase (seed/12 words) OR the wrong private key OR the wrong contribution address. In order to address these, please follow this:
    1. The BTC/ETH tool is built on this
    2. Once there, you can enter your passphrase and then
    3. Choose the right derivation path (Google your wallet (for ex. Electrum and “derivation path”).
    4. When you scroll down you will see all your different addresses.
    5. You need to find the one you’ve contributed from.
    6. When you find it, at the very right you’ll see the private key that belongs to that address.
    7. Use that private key and your Bitcoin address with our tool and you should get the correct ETH address and private key to access your AE tokens.
  • Late contributions will be refunded as soon as possible in the cryptocurrency that was contributed (ETH or BTC).
  • Accessing your AE tokens if you contributed with Exodus wallet — please contact user “smokim87” at BitcoinTalk.
  • If you have contributed BTC from a multisig wallet, a the BTC/ETH conversion tool is being updated in order to function properly in your case.

If you experience any issues, please contact us at info@aeternity.com.
